Frequently asked questions
Some common questions asked by potential clients:
-
Our goal is to help every single client we work with land a job, but we fully understand the importance of confidentiality when it comes to job opportunities and search efforts. All our portfolios are kept strictly between the design team at CGD and the client. CGD has an additional password-protected site that displays our example portfolios, all of which have been approved by the respective clients to use for advertising and marketing purposes only.
-
Our coaching portfolios are finalized as PDF’s in order to maximize efficiency. These may be sent via text message or emailed to agents, potential employers, and search firms. Source files (Adobe Photoshop documents with layers) are only sent to clients upon request, with a price increase. Portfolios can be created vertically or horizontally; Vertical portfolios (8.5x11) are best for printing on paper and binding for interviews, where horizontal portfolios (7.5x13.3) are best for virtual presentations and zooms, but they may be sent electronically as well as printed and bound.

Please complete the Contact Us section at the bottom of this website. Alex Church will be in touch with you shortly to discuss navigating sample work we’ve done for past clients. Because of the hyper-competitiveness of basketball job searches and the confidential nature of the work we provide, our services are kept confidential within a password-protected database with extremely limited access.

Pricing is set entirely on an individual basis, project-by-project. We fully understand the vast discrepancies in salaries of various job positions and the different levels within the staffs of college and professional sports teams. It is our goal to assist every possible coach interested in working with us, so as a project progresses, we will address pricing in a personalized manner as to best serve every client we work with.
-
Upon reaching out, our team will communicate with you to discuss your vision, understand your wants, and needs, and establish a portfolio outline. At that point, we will work with you one-on-one to gather information, statistics, answer any questions, and access necessary photos and materials.
-
Every project is different, so there is no way of establishing a universal project date. Nearly every portfolio we create is first come first serve, so turnaround time is directly affected by the coaching carousel and job marketing, depending on the time of year. Most clients (specifically those in college basketball) are working with us from late winter through the summer months. The biggest factors affecting turnaround time will be our current ongoing projects, length of portfolio, and the time at which we receive your materials.
-
Upon completion, you will receive an invoice for your records, and a receipt upon payment. Payment is accepted via most traditional methods: mail by check, PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle. Links to these accounts are sent when your portfolio is finalized and complete.

Our Story
CHURCH GRAPHIC DESIGN
My passion for helping basketball coaches comes from my childhood: I grew up in a basketball family. My father has been the head coach at Hedgesville High school in Hedgesville, WV for over 25 years, and my twin brother played college basketball at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. I knew from a young age, I wanted to coach. I began my career in college basketball as a manager for the Marshall Men’s basketball team in the fall of 2014. As head manager my senior year, we had a magical run in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, after which I was fortunate enough to be hired as a Graduate Assistant at The University of Alabama-Birmingham under head coach Rob Ehsan. At UAB, I was tasked with learning to design recruiting graphics and materials for the program. After nearly two seasons (2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19) we were fired!
Our staff was let go at the abrupt halt of the 2020 season and being let go and in search of a job during a pandemic, I created a portfolio for myself; In the following months, I moved to Richmond, VA and continued to assist other members of our staff, colleagues, and peers, at which point I had a realization. I was 18 and in search of where I could begin my career, 22 searching for the coveted Graduate Assistant position, and 24 searching for my first full-time position. Seeing myself and those above me go through similar experiences, I saw the competitiveness in getting a job, and knew I wanted to help great leaders land great jobs. In January 2021, I officially launched Church Graphic Design with one goal in mind: to help the best individuals in basketball advance their careers. Everyone’s story is different- we’re here to help you write the next chapter.
